Artist Statement

I grew up creating endless collages, and drawing on myself and friends, which now all falls into place. After being discouraged from pursuing tattooing through school, I eventually returned to education to finally make it a reality. I graduated my Level 3 Art and Design course in 2020, where I explored in more depth those same collage interests, and applied it to 3 dimensional and installation works. This carries over beautifully to tattooing in informing my ability to work with the natural contours of the body; which I believe is such a defining factor between tattooing and other forms of 2 dimensional illustration. I am endlessly grateful to say that I managed to secure an apprenticeship straight after finishing my diploma, at Stained Nation Tattoo Studio, which was at the time Jersey’s longest standing and one of the most respected tattoo studios in Jersey. I spent most of the next year shadowing, and learning both the techniques of tattooing, and the intricacies of the rigorous health and safety which goes into it. I have been taking clients and tattooing full time since August 2021, and I am very thankful to everybody who has been tattooed by me and trusted me with their skin and ideas in that time.

I primarily tattoo in fineline blackwork. I use a combination of etching, derived from traditional scratchboard techniques which I have adapted to tattoo application, and dotwork shading to create vintage inspired effects. My artistic influences draw massively from surrealism, and I enjoy pooling ideas from vintage anatomical, botanical, and medical illustrations; I also find massive inspiration in the natural world, and love any opportunity to tattoo birds and insects especially.

Exhibitions and interviews

I am honoured to have had my work be selected to be included in the Durer: Under Your Skin Exhibition in the Albrecht Durer House in Nuremberg from April- October 2024. The collection celebrates the continued impact of Albrecht Durer’s exceptional works, and explores their evolving effects as they take on a new form in tattoos, situated in Durer’s very own home-turned-museum. Unfortunately the article on the museum website is only available in German, but some mobiles may have automatic translation options.

It was also my great pleasure to talk about my work in the August 2024 edition of the Bailiwick Express Magazine, Connect.

Lindsay is a local creative and practicing artist who has found her vocation in nails.

Coming from a background in ceramics and printing, she has expanded her creative talents and recently qualified as a nail technician.

“From a young age I always loved playing with nail polish. It felt like an extension of my identity, a way I could express myself further than the clothes I wear. There’s something special about carving out the time for yourself to get your nails done and the joy it brings to have a fresh set.”

From classic French manicures to playful nail art, Lindsay would love to help you express yourself through your nails. Although not offering extensions at this time, she can help you grow your natural nails using BIAB™, a soak off gel builder that enhances your natural nails ability to grow and increases strength in brittle nails.

Lindsay uses products from The Gel Bottle, having chosen the brand after learning about their ethos. All the products used are Vegan and free from animal testing, PETA approved and Vegan society accredited.

All manicures will include application of Rubber Base or the option to have “Builder in a Bottle™, BIAB™, a soak off gel builder that enhances your natural nails ability to grow and increases strength in brittle nails. Much like Rubber Base, BIAB™ increases the nails flexibility - meaning nails are much less likely to snap.
